Jazz PianistMiki Hayama

  

Miki Hayama was born in a musical family  in Kyoto, Japan.  She began to play piano and Wadaiko(Japanese drums) when she    was 7 years old.She enrolled  the Osaka College of Music where majoring in classic piano, and studied jazz piano  with      Sadayasu Fujii at Fuji Jazz school in Kyoto.

  She is the first prize winner at the Yokohama Jazz Competition in 1996.

 

Currently, she lives in New York City, and  has been appearing world wide  as a leader as well as sideman.

  Miki Hayama has performed and shared  at the stage with Grammy Nominee alto saxophone player, Kenny Garrett, James Spaulding(a.sax), Joe Ford(a.sax), Vincent Herring(a.sax), Brad Leali (a.sax), Wes Anderson(a.sax), Mark Gross(a.sax), Bruce Williams(a.sax), Roland Alexander(a.sax), Eric Alexander(t.sax), JD Allen(t.sax), Roy Hargrove(tp), Sean Jones(tp), Carl Allen(drs), Cindy Blackman(drs), Dennis Davis (former drummer of Stevie Wonder), Omar Hakim(drs), Ralph Peterson(drs), Eric McPherson(drs), Nasheet Waits(drs), Nat Reeves(drs), Kiyoshi Kitagawa(b), Richie Goods(b), Lonnie Plaxico(b), Vitaly Golovnev(tp), Shunzo Ohno(tp), Valery Ponomarev(tp)& His Big Band , Tia Fuller(a.sax), Miriam Sullivan(b), Kim Thompson(drs), Jason Curry(a.sax), Aretha Franklin (vo), Charenee Wade (vo) , Lare (vo), Eustasia Foster (vo) to name a few. Besides Jazz, She plays Gospel music with Choir at Cathedral United Baptist Church in Bronx every Sunday.
